Analogizing Life

Life can be so many different things. It can be whatever you want. The abstract analogies of life are endless and abundantly expressed everyday be it in a quote, story or through the words of a wise person. But if you think about it, even a simple minded fool can analogise life to something. It’s nice to see different people’s views on life for this reason. Everyone has one.

Some think life is like a rollercoaster with its tumultuous ups and downs signifying the high and low points in our lives.  It can even flip you upside down and throw you off and out of your comfort zone. But it can also restore the status quo just as easily. Ultimately life is like a ride and meant to be enjoyed.

It could be a chaotic playlist on shuffle. One minute, it’s on a fast beat, the next it’s a slower tune. It is an ever changing melody that you will always listen for. Even if you turn down the volume it will still be playing in the background whether you acknowledge it or not.

Life could even be a lasagne or a double cheeseburger. It’s not as profound as the other comparisons but it is true all the same. There are so many layers and each represents various stages in our lives similar to Shakespeare’s SEVEN AGES.

This makes us think about life in terms of a play. According to the bard,” All the world’s a stage and all the men and women merely players.” Our scene or monologue may come to an end but the show (or in this case LIFE) does go on.

Though life can be compared to a plethora of scenarios and objects, one thing is for sure and common to all these analogies. Life can change in a second for better or for worse. So when you are having the time of your life, prepare yourself for the upcoming storm. It’s a morbid thought, I know. But then again when you are sinking deeper than you ever thought possible, hope and pray to see the sunlight you know is waiting and embrace it when the time comes.

Someone once said, “Realisations take time to happen but the minute you stop looking, they click like a Rubik’s cube.”

The list goes on and the thoughts get more and more profound. So take the time to ponder the meaning of life even if it is hard question to answer. In fact, there is no answer. There is only your view and no one can tell you that it is wrong. That’s the beauty of it all.

So what does life signify to YOU? Think about it.
